Not sure if im posting on the right thread or not. if not, I apologise. But i really need some help.
Basically as you will see from my sig, OH and I are on a dmp with CCCS, all going pretty well until now. We have very little money coming in this month for reasons which I cannot go into for fear of being recognised on here. direct debits are just about covered and our dmp payment has got to be reduced to £55. We should have some wages coming in, but not until the 28th June:eek: We did have savings, but have now only got about £50 left due to some unforeseen problems:( OH is not on board at all. I have just starting selling on ebay, 10 items but only 2 with bids and not very high as yet:( but have still got 7 days to go, so hopefully with improve. He thinks nothing of going out for lunch every weekend and spends 40-50 quid a week on diesel:eek: I try to cut back and he just carries on! anyway I am going to list what ive got in my cupboards and freezer and see if anyone can help me list until the end of June. OH doesnt like fish apart from prawns and poor DD is allergic to cheese, but can have any other diary. So here goes
Cupboards
Noodles
Pasta (large bag)
Pilau Rice (3 bags)
Loads of plain flour
Loads of tins of soup
Curry sauce x 1
Chicken and beef stock cubes
Various spices
Freezer
Large pack of bacon (16 rashers)
Kebabs
Burgers
Large pack of beef (cubed)
Endless Mince!
Prawns
Sausages
Whole chicken
Diced chicken
large bags of sweetcorn and peas
fridge
Butter
Eggs
Cheese
Milk
Yoghurts
If someone could help me, I would be most grateful. As when I get low (and its pretty often at the min) I go out and spend in the supermarkets (like the other day, spent £36:eek:) and then came home and instantly regretted it! I felt so bad. Ive got no one to turn to, I feel like I have no way out. This forum has been a real comfort to me in the past, I am begging you lovely peeps on here, please help me.

Hi Jasper
I feel for you and I know how you feel about feeling like you'll never make it (I think most of us on here have) so you are not alone. Your main problem at the moment is your OH but I'll stick to the question that you asked about....
I would advise that you have a look on the Storecupboard Challenge thread for ideas too.
You haven't said what kind of soup you have but if you have any tomato soup you could use this (or tins of tomatoes if you have them) as a base for spag bol with the mince. Also for the mince you can make chilli con carne (with the rice), shepherds pie, mince & dumplings (done in the oven are GORGEOUS).
If you have any white-creamy-style soup you could use this a pasta base and add the bacon to it as a Carbonara (with/without mushrooms). Alternatively you could use the milk, butter and flour to make your own...
Prawn curry & rice
If any of the soups are watery-type-soups you could add noodles to them to make Chinese-style-noodle soup (adding some extra spices to liven it up a bit) and perhaps some egg dribbled in as the soup is boiling to make egg-drop-style soup.
Sausage in onion gravy with mash, cut-up sausages with tomatoes over pasta/noodles, sausage egg & chips.
Beef casserole made with stock cubes (or gravy) & water, cut-up carrots, onions, etc (in slow cooker). Beef curry (using spices & tinned tomatoes?)
Egg fried rice.
Chicken casserole (same as beef above), chicken curry (same as beef above), chicken & chips, Chicken with veg & potatoes (dinner).
Potato Rosti, omelette, souffle, pancakes, baked potatoes. Also I lived with a Chinese family for a while and they regularly had a dish which was basically cooked mince put in the bottom of a flan dish and whisked eggs poured over the top then cooked in the oven (they'd sometimes add spring onions to the egg mixture and sometimes 5-spice) - but I remember it being very tasty.
Well there's 26 meals just off the top of my head! If you need any recipes, etc please just ask and don't forget the Storecupboard Challenge thread - I think you'll find it VERY helpful over there! :oD
Keep us updated on how you do. ((hug))

I'm sorry that you're feeling so low and not getting any help from your OH. Have a look at the cheap-family-recipes.org site for some really, REALLY good and healthy recipe ideas. One recipe that came to mind when you mentioned your OH is nothing but bloody toast for him for the rest of the month! If he's spending money you don't have on himself at the weekend I think you're justified in not feeding him properly, if at all, for the rest of the week. GRRRR!0

Rice with a couple of rashers of bacon, peas & sweetcorn is nice & filing.
Omlettes are very cheap & you can use whatever veg or bits of meat you have leftover.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
Noodles with sweetcorn, peppers, mushrooms, carrots, spring onions and any other veg you fancy is good with some soy sauce or a mix of honey, sweet chilli sauce and soy sauce. Quick too.
Egg and homemade wedges, instead of meat with a roast you could do sage and onion stuffing with veggies and mash.
omlette, beans on toast, toad in the hole, pasta with cheese sauce and brocolli/cauliflower mixed through, homemade soup is cheap and good for lunches.
Potatoe cakes are another good one I like to do, leftover mash and veg mixed together with cheese grated through it, pan fry and serve with sliced sausage, chicken, sausages anything really.
Let us know how you get on
