Best PPI policies

I'm in the process of applying for a loan for consolidation of debts but before doing so I want to make a decision on who to go with for my PPI.
I have a fair idea who I want to take my loan with but I've read in various places that it usually works out much cheaper to go with a standalone insurance broker rather than the company you take the loan out with.
So I'm basically after some recommendations for the best value PPI policies.

youre right to assume that stand alone is better,you really have to shop around to see which is best for you,read the t&c`s in FULL and make sure you understand them,and make sure you declare everything in FULL e.g. existing health conditions etc

The frontrunner for the loan is currently Alliance & Leicester at 6.9% APR. On the amount I wish to borrow, the PPI with them works out at around £40 per month. In stark comparison I have found that British Insurance offer PPI of £7 for the same monthly repayment (my monthly repayments would be £230).
Am I right to expect that it's doubtful I'll do better than that?
