Mortgage retention expired?

I have an outstanding 1000 retention on my mortgage account which is three years old. The retention was for roof repairs which never got done within the six month period. The mortgage company have never mentioned it since.
I have recently had a new roof on the property. My question is can I now approach the mort co. for the 1000.00 or should the work have been completed within six months for them to release the money.

Depends on the lender and the terms the put in their mortgage offer.
My radical suggestion is to ring them and ask the question.0
