i think i bought one in argos last year. however, its never been 100% accurate (usually a few coins under or over) so if im taking coins to the bank i count it out again. However its good if you want to know how much you have approximately to see if its even worth taking it to the bank in the first place! Also, when you see the rows filling up it encourages you to save!

We have the Science Museum coin sorter. We tip the whisky bottle coins into it and it has been fine and accurate. It sorts the coins into fixed tubes of various denominations so you can check for errors easily if they do occur. It's been very useful.

The other alternative is to go to Asda, who at many branches have a large coin sorter. Tip yer coins in, get a slip to exhange for cash, but they have 7% charge.
I reckon your own will earn its keep!

  • have one and find it gets the amounts wrong too

if you do get one it is possible worth marking up the tubes with marker pen line to correct levels

I have one, and have bought the OH one for Christmas. (£9.99 from WH Smiths Instore).

Its not accurate, but its a good way of sorting out the coins so you can see what you have and then count them up afterwards.
  • Thanks all,

will try and get one, although they seem to be quite popular, alot of
    places are out of stock
