Asda help Overcharge policy? Advice please anyone

Options
i have just been to asda and bought some pringles just as i paid there was a price incres from 69p a tin to £1.38 so i bought 20 tins and it went though at £1.38 a tin and then there was a discount of £1.26 per two tins so the total came to £15. it should have been 69p per tin and after the discount £1.20. Took them to customer services and she refunded the 20 tins and put them through at the right price. i asked about there policy and got told they dont offer r+r or anything now i have just read

"If you have been overcharged or undercharged in any of our stores we will gladly refund the difference (if you have been overcharged) and give you a £2 Gift voucher for each product you have been mischarged for."

so should of i got a refund on each tin?

the problem i have is when she gave mer the new recipts shes kept mine with card details on:mad:

should i ring head office ? if so what number.

  • just notived on the new recipt shes charged me wrong
  • Can anyone help?
  • I'd ring HO for your voucher.

We had a similar prob yesterday. OH was going to Asda so I asked him to bring 4 pringles got charged 1.38 x 3 and one at 69p with a multibuy refund of 1.26 so all in all I think we were ripped off. Because I wasn't there to check the prices in store or the till receipt at the time not much I can do. Seems like the glitch is on one of the flavours we bought but not the others but not sure which.

Asda certainly does have the £2 giftcard policy, but it can be really really difficult to get the CS staff to admit it.

Now some MSEers would say that the '£2 giftcard per product overcharged' would mean per item (in your case Pringles). But I'm not sure that a store would believe this unless Head Office told them it's the case.

I would go back on the Asda website and find their HO Customer service phone No. and ring them (Supermarkets ignore emails or are very slow to reply, so phoning is best). Tell them what's happened and ask if the £2 giftcard applied per item, or per different product (if it's the latter did you buy different flavours as surely each one is a different barcoded product?).

I expect HO will send you a nice giftcard, but it would be really useful to know the answer to the 'per product' question. You could ask if they can email the policy confirmation to you so you 'can use it instore in future'....and then maybe you could post the email here for us to see?

Finally, if you get any problems I would post your question on the Tesco misprices Discussion area, as the Asda policy has been mentioned there often (even tho' it's a Tesco thread) and there are others there with more info than me! Or you could post your problem on this thread (if you haven't already...):

When this happens to me (4 times so far), ratehr than argue the toss, I ring their 0500 number and I'm sent the money via a giftcard.

  • Hi there,

Im a CSA at Asda and the policy has very recently changed. Asda will no longer give you £2 giftcard for undercharging you. If you are overcharged they will only give you one £2 giftcard for each 'line' . HTH

P.S. You may have to mention your £2 giftcard, maybe something like, My mum told me i should get a £2 for being overcharge like she did, CSA should then 'smile' (in theory) and hand it over :-)

  • I was in Asda's tonight and was overcharged on Jam. It was on buy 2 for £1.60 but i got charged £1.11 each. I was refunded the difference and i asked them if i will have the £2 gift card, they gave me it. Do you have to ask for it, or will they give it to you automatically?.

  • I was overcharged 11p the other day and they gave me the £2 card without me having to ask, nice surprise.:j

They seem to overcharge on at least one item every time I shop in Asda!

I will make sure I get the card each time now.:T

I too have been overcharged on two occasions in my local asda, but when i asked for the £2 giftcard i was told that it was only for people who had left the store and had to come back again,ie driven away and had to drive back again, so i rang up asda customer services who said the policy was down to each individual store to which i replied " well where does it say that on your website? It clearly says in the event that we have overcharged you, you get a £2 giftcard, not if the cs staff are feeling generous or if the month has a z in it" to which the man i spoke to didnt say anything, two weeks later i got a letter and a £4 giftcard, so it is worth pursuing. How much would they be fined per item on shelf if trading standards spotted the overcharge? Not a piddly £2 giftcard I bet, and why do the cs act like its coming out of their own pocket?
