Recommendations on which curling tongs to use with thick hair?

Hi all

I am going out next weekend and, wanting to get my hair looking all tousled and fabulous in a loose curl kind of way, am looking to get some kind of curling tongs.

The trouble I have encountered previously, is when I used large heated rollers to try and achieve the same sort of look, my hair is SO thick and heavy, and naturally wavy, that the curl drops out after about 5 mins!

Can anyone suggest a) which tongs to buy, and b) what I can use or do to help the curl stay in my hair?

Never had any luck with any of them. I have very very thick hair and the sheer weight of the hair pulls out the curls within an hour or so at best.

if your hair is already thick and wavy I would diffuse it then curl random sections of hair with a curling iron so that if it drops it is not very noticable.

I also have curly thick hair and have curled mine using a GHD and this turned out well

My favourite are Herstyler Baby Grande Curls (the thicker ones) which I got from ebay after trying GHD'S, Babyliss Tongs and Carmen heated rollers. They are the ones often demonstrated in shopping malls and I use them with heat protector and elnett. They are to curling what GHD's are to straightening - I LOVE THEM, the curls stay in for 3 days or until you wash your hair.

i have very thick hair and i learnt to curl my hair using my ghd's by watching videos on youtube. I curl my hair in sections and spray each section with some hairspray and they stay in really well.

    Hi

How about the babyliss curling tong below:

I use this (i did use to have thick long hair)and after curling the hair, I hairspray each section to retain the curl sometime even hairspray the section before curling.

jose eber curling iron - not remotely cheap but works! (and good hairspray!) it starts off making right curls but if you just run your fingers through it, it looks a lot more natural.
