FOCUS' new refund policy
Konspiracy
Just bought a TV mast from there last night before they closed. I came back this morning and asked to return it since it wasn't big enough, the manager was a right !!!! wipe about it and wouldn't accept the refund (as we all know). However I wasn't aware of the no-refund policy last night when I purchased it as there wasn't a sign next to the till I was at and the cashier never told me. They do say they'll refund your item if it's faulty -- would breaking the welding class as faulty if I do it without damaging the actual mast? There must be a way to get it refunded!
Any ideas?

If you have simply changed your mind, there is no right to have it refunded.
If you now break it, then you will not get a refund either, as that is wilful damage0 -
You do know Focus are is trouble, right?
Anyway, that aside, no store has to refund you just because you bought the wrong size.
No store has to have a sign near the till listing all the things they won't do.
No store employee has to tell you all the things they won't do.
More to the point, was there any sign telling you you could bring the thing back for a refund if not faulty?0 -
If focus sell a bigger one you could ask to exchange it for the bigger one and pay the difference?
If you've already been in and spoke to the manager he will probably remember you. Breaking it purposly is fraud and you have not right to a refund if thats what your planning to do.
More shops are not issuing refunds for change of minds and a company in adminstration definatly wont.0 -
Maybe the manager was being a bit off a "right !!!! wipe" because he's facing the prospect of soon losing his job.

OP, you have no right of refund for non-faulty goods.0 -

If they are in the hands of the Administrator, many of the normal customer "rights" can be waived, during a "sell-off" - BUT, there should be notices at the tills/prominent positions stating this.0 -
I called in to my local Focus store yesterday and have never seen it that busy before with all the bargain hunters. I would assume you had a discount on your TV mast - they want to get rid of stock and don't want to have to deal with people buying something getting home and deciding they either don't want it or rather cynically attempting to take the item back a few days later to get a refund and then repurchase the item when the discount level has increased.0
