NI with two jobs

Hi all

My wife is just about to start her second part time job.

She will work 2 days a week at each job and get paid about £550.00 a month for each job.

As each job on it's own is below the tax threshold, we thought it would be best to split her code and pay some tax on each job.

The problem is I can't seem to find out how NI is paid as both jobs are below the limit, it looks like neither one will be taking any NI deductions.

Any help appreciated, thanks

You are correct. Each job is considered separately for NI purposes and she won't pay any NI.

This may be a problem for state pension purposes.

She will get NI credits for each job above £442 per month (LEL), NI payments start at £602 per month (PT).
