I have bought over time a lot of makeup and skincare from ebay. Only once got a fake(from Hong Kong) Armani eye mania palette. I raised a dispute and won got my money back. Actually when I got the palette knew it was fake straight up.

Okay. MAC,Chanel,Dior and Creed are the most faked brands on ebay.
Now there are genuine sellers usually power who have shops. They do and can sell real items, BUT don't expect stuff to be very very cheap compared to the stores.

You look at the photos, you ask questions of the seller and also google the item that way you perhaps can tell if its real or not before bidding or buying. A few years back all of a sudden Smashbox fakes started appearing on ebay. It was just so clear they were fake, eyeliner pencils when Smashbox only did cream eyeliner in pots or palettes(now they do limited edition sets of eye liner pencils with collections). They where going for £1.99 and selling like mad. I reported the seller to ebay and Smashbox as well. You don't know if these pencils were toxic or something.

MAC I would not touch on ebay, now you do see a limited edition item pop up and go for far more than the original price. These I can see are the real thing, people miss out on a piece and then really want it.

There is a US site called Speckta(sp), they are all about MAC and the forum can tell you straight up if its a fake. Also makeupalley.com another good place to ask, does this look fake? They are MAC mad there.

I buy a lot from ebay, mostly fragrances and I've always been satisfied, but I never never buy form new users and the feedback has to be 100% possitive.

    Hi

I use to buy make up and fragrances from ebay a longtime ago but they did tend to be fakes from China. The perfume smelt and lasted the same as normal shop brought. As for the make up it was more or less the same quality. You can normally tell if its the real deal from the price you are paying. I have never had any allergic reactions or problems so i don't occasionally mind buying but prefer to be told that its a knock off not to be sold it as a genuine product.

i do buy from ebay, but i do my reasearch.

the one product i buy is virgin vie air brush mousse. it is £18 from vie, but including postage i get it between £10 and £12 on ebay.

i only buy from uk sellers, and an item which is brand new. most are ex-vie sellers, or won it in a game a vie party , bought wrong colour etc.

so far i've not had any problems and it does help to make a small saving on the item.

I bought some Benefit blushes on Ebayand they were fakes too. Lots of postive comments on the seller's profile as another poster mentioned. I may possibly buy stuff from Ebay again if it is hard to get in the UK or if I want a particular item from a set I saw on QVC or something. Some people sell parts of makeup kits they bought on QVC from brands like Mally or Smashbox that they don't want and havent used. Good way to good if you just want the one thing, not the whole kit.
