thanks you for all your good luck wishs
i`ve allready started preparing things. for example;
sorted out a larger veggie patch
friends and family are collecting up jam jars and containers so i can store my produce later on.
my xmas list is mostly for vouchers to use later, boots,tescos,argos etc
stocking up on bits and pieces pastic bags etc, picking up anything free to store for later incase needed. elasticbands, screws, bits and pieces. all free things but i`m collecting with gusto lol
my boss also said i can have any out of date things from the shop i work at which would normally just be thrown away. so i can get some fruit and veg etc while i`m waiting for mine to come in.
so i`m getting pretty well set up. stocking up the freezer with veggies all ready
i got a cauliflower the other day for free because it was a day over the sell by date but 2 days before the use by date.
i really think i can do this.
thank you again

I already do this,sometimes I have had to buy 2 days food and sundries with just ten pounds for a family of six!!!Also,to try and cut our bills we had candle-lit nights twice a week(didn,t notice any saving and the kids got cross coz they couldn,t see to do their homework:rotfl: )Hope it works for you.0

Great idea Fishcake! Will be following with interest. Might even pitch in, too. However, I do think that asking for vouchers is a weeny cheat.
I read an article about this woman in the Guardian. Made me laugh that the only "extravagance" she had was cotton buds.

what? Not including bills? £2500?
I spend about £50 a week and I make no amazing effort to scrimp and save, eat out from time to time, buy music, I even buy breakfast a few times a week, £3 this morning! Surely you mean including bills?
What are people spending money on? I know im not a big spender but im no coupon chasing miser either. Im shocked if you think £50 a week is "nothing". What do you think is normal spending? What do you think is big spending??!!
I lived off £30 a week at uni in my 1st year... do they want to write an article about me?Debt: a bloomin big mortgage

my budget is also £50 per week, not including household bills, but that does include food and petrol. I'm sure that figure could be reduced quite a bit though. Good luck with it - it will be interesting to see how you get on0
