when I write my shopping list, if things I need for the meal plan are towards the end of the week then next to it I write the date - eg Chicken (10 December). Then I can see what I don't even need to bother freezing and can leave space in the freezer for other things.

I find it makes it a bit easier than standing in Tesco going um what date is Sunday - and counting days on my fingers???? :D;)

Still trying to think of things to do with frozen broad beans - why and when did I buy them!!!!

I'm trying to do the same thing with frozen spinach. I made a quiche the other day, but I've still got loads left to use.
  • Frozen Spinach - Why not add it into a curry to add some vitamins or add to crumbled feta cheese in filo pastry for cheese pies - yum!

Ref saving money with the shopping - as recommended, do a list of your cupboard, fridge and freezer contents. I keep one permanently on the go now, it helps me see at a glance what I have and keeps me up to date with what has been used up (things get crossed off the list). I used to find that I had lost interest in the contents by the time I had spent a while rummaging.

It also stops the freezer door being open whilst I am rummaging about in drawers for inspiration!!!

I also freeze any veg that I don't think I am likely to use. Usually on my Sundays (I work full time), I slice and blanch anything left in the freezer drawer, have started doing this in the winter as I am unlikely to rustle up a stirfry to use up the veg as we are more into winter meals now.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D
