'best' DVD rental company

Options
Hi All,

I wanted to start a thread on the 'preferred' DVD rental companies out there to get a feel on other people's experiences.

I started with Amazon, whom I think are excellent in terms of their customer service and speed of delivery. And I like the way they tell you which items in your rental queue are ready to delivery or roughly how long it will take. But I didnt like the limit on X dvd's a month. So I am currently giving Tesco and DVDS365 a trial.
i have been waiting over a week now with both companies to get hold of 'Hero'. I love the way there is no monthly limit with these companies but my first order with dvds365 still hasnt turned up, and they havent responded to any of my emails. Tesco seems ok but very slow when it comes to the new releases. And neither really tell you in your queue which films are ready until they've been dispatched to you so you have no idea of knowing how long it might be till you get them, this is important if you are choosing newer releases.

I hope Amazon remove their monthly cap's, I wouldnt mind paying a bit more if I get the service and I know whats going on with the items in my queue.

Anyway, I noticed Virgin have just started a service also.

I'm currently doing a free trial with lovefilm and i've been very impressed. You can't tell how long you have to wait for items in the que but I have found that they definately send out the films at the top of your list first, where possible. I quite like the surprise of not knowing what films you'll get next. The speed of delivery is great and they have a huge range (they've had everything I want/can think of).
  • I would have totally recomended love film until this week. We have recieved one empty dvd case and one dvd in the wrong box. Until now they have been fabulous. I'll be sticking with them, I hope they sort out these hitches.
  • I tryed lovefilm on a free trial and i found them to be very good.

    Cheers.

Well further to my lost 'Elf' dvd with DVDs365, they did say they will resend it.
What actually arrived was spiderman2, So they didnt even get their resent item right.
    Ah well.
After noticing a lot of people praising LOVEFILM, I decided to sign up with them this morning. Set up my list and now they are already dispatching me Hero and two other latest films, Remember I mentioned I've been waiting for Hero from tesco and dvds365 for over a week now. LOVEFILM are sending it to me straight away. I like this. :-)

So I will see how they turn out, The website is easier to use than dvds365's also as I found it quite cumbersumb and having to log in more than I should as they have no 'remember me' option on their login area.
