So, here's the update...
Phoned L&G to get an address to send the form off to. They told me that it needs to go to Northern Rock - phoned them, and they agreed!
Form sent off, acknowledgement received within a couple of days.
30 June the next reply has arrived (4-5 weeks after original letter) -
"Unfortunately we do not have a resolution at present...once we have completed our investigations we will respond in full...[we] will write to you again as soon as possible...[the] FSA advise you to complete our Internal Complaints Procedure first. I therefore hope you will give us more time to continue looking into your complaint. However, I must make you aware that you may refer matters to the FOS...at any time."
Should I wait? If so, how long? - 8 weeks since the original letter? Or should I now go to the FOS?0 -
You might as well wait. If you go to FOS now they'll tell you there's nothing they can do until you get the final determination from NR.I am a mortgage broker. ...and the letter arrived this last week.
Not just a refund of the time when we were inelligable to claim, but a refund of the full 10 years worth of MPPI payments since we took the policy out along with 8% standard interest applied :j - over £5k.
A lovely letter with "I am not satisfied that our sale of MPPI provided you with enough information to enable you to make an informed choice, or that it would be fair or reasonable to decline your complaint".
The grounds for complaint were - it was not fully explained when we took out cover that we wouldn't be insured if we rented, we ceased to be eligible during the period and, it was not in the terms and conditions given to us at the time.
Thank you for all your help!
And for those who are wondering if it is worth complaining - it's just the price of a stamp and a little work filing in the form, what do you have to lose?!0 -
Congratulations, wildref.
IMHO you had a legitimate claim and every right to recover what you'd paid.
