yeah, the frozen mince would have been raw so it's fine to freeze once cooked.

I got some reduced beef mince from the supermarket - have made a big pot of chilli con carne :) According to the packet, the beef was a mix of fresh and previously frozen meat, so not meant to be frozen.

Obviously, though, it has now been cooked. Would you freeze it now?

I would freeze it - it's now in a different state - ie it's now cooked.
  • Yes hon, it's fine. As long as you are not repeating a process (i.e. refreezing previously frozen raw mince) you will be OK. Once you have changed the molecular state of it, you are safe.

Cooking kills off the bacteria/virus in the meat. And that where your issue surrounding freezing cooked meat comes from.

I buy fresh mince and freeze it, then defrost it to make a big batch of say bolognaise, and whatever we dont eat goes back in the freezer. We have never been ill :)
  • Yes it is fine as long as it has been cooked

    Hi bitsandpieces :hello:

As this has fallen off the first page, I have added your thread to the existing one on freezing previously frozen mince. Do read back at others suggestions :)

    thanks
