Loan Brokers - HELP!

Hello,

I stupidly paid unsecuredloancompany.net a £55 brokerage fee to organise a loan for me.

They didn't manage to organise a loan for me on the terms or amount that they had quoted during their original contact with me, so I decided to cancel my application.

Corresponding with their T & C's I wrote to them last week requesting my loan be cancelled and my £55 brokerage fee be refunded.

This is their response:

I am writing to you in relation to your recent correspondence we have received to our address.

Unfortunately at this stage we are unable to issue the refund you have requested in your letter.

The reason for this is stated in section 9 of the terms and conditions you accepted which reads “The information You give Us must be true and accurate. In the event that You provide Us with inaccurate or misleading information, We reserve the right to reclaim any losses incurred by Us in performing the service to You”.

This has been confirmed by the original lender we placed you with who have declined your application for the same reason.

I am sure the details you have given us on your application were correct to the best of your knowledge, but there appears to be conflicting information between your credit file and application details which is preventing your application proceeding.

At this stage it is now imperative that we view your credit file immediately in order to rectify the issues raised and to take preventative measures to decrease the chance of further damage to your Credit Score. This service is provided by us at no extra cost to you.

I certainly didn't give them any incorrect information, to be honest I didn't really give them any information beyond my address, DOB, etc, and I don't really want anything more to do with them.

After doing a bit of digging I have found this isn't uncommon with brokers of this nature and lesson has been learned for the future, but is there anything I can do to get my £55 back? Are they just stalling?

HELP!

Write again cancelling the application for refund iaw their own T&C's. they are entitled to retain a fee which is currently £5 so you are claiming £50 back, not £55.

They will of course, stall as they are already but be firm and to the point. When they refuse again, make a formal complaint to them. Give them 8 weeks to respond to your compaint and then escalate the complaint (details should be in their T&C's).

It can be a long drawn out process, they obviously do not want to refund you. Don't rant and rave at them, just keep it polite but firm.

You have learned your lesson, no broker is going to find you a loan, they are all out to scam money from you.

Keep your guard up (read my sig!), NEVER give out your bank details when searching for a loan with these people.
If your own bank say no, look for alternative plans as you 'aint getting a loan.
