I just had a shave.....

....and it wasn't with a Wilkinson Sword or a Gillette, it was with a Matrix, Tesco Matrix.
Being a bloke (I know women have their fair share of problems
) can be a pain what with having to shave most days unless you're involved in some kind of science related work or study (just kidding).
Anyhow this shaving lark can turn out expensive so I decided to try a new razor yesterday after comparing the price of Gillette replacement blades, £7.98 for 8 (nearly £1 each!!) to Tesco's own Matrix blades £4.99 for 8 (62p each). I also bought the razor at £2.99 with two blades as I don't think the razors fit any other shaver....I'll try and will post if they do.
The shave was good, not Mach 3 Turbo good but certainly Mach 3 good, no burn, no nicks but very close. I'm very impressed and know what I'll be buying in the future and looking forward to saving some money. The only gripe I have is that the blades get a little clogged but I have had this problem before and keep an old toothbrush to clean the razor when finished.
Gillette aren't necessarily the best a man can get, they are the most expensive a man can get though so we'll give them that.
Hope this helps and saves.

P.S. If you're unsure and want to try The Matrix out, the razor comes with two blades for £2.99.
P.P.S. The new Wilkinson Sword that was available as a freebie some time ago is truly dreadful but if anyone does like it, they are selling the blades and razors off at half price in Tesco at the moment.

I too found the Wilkinson sword razor that was a freebie not long ago - absolutely dreadful! Used it once, got cut to shreds and then binned it.0

Is that the 'Quattro' freebie? That was awful, blades clogged up really quickly and gave me a rash you wouldn't believe. Glad I didn't buy it as it would have been a real waste of money!0 -
I throught the quattro was quite good - but I'm a laydeeee
so it was just for my party legs!!0 -
I'm a Mach 3 turbo man, but have asked for a foil electric rechargable shaver for christmas for the ultimate in money saving!
Cheers for the heads up though, if I don't get on with the electric I'll give them a go for sure!0 -
Perhaps it's just that I have particularly tough beard hair but I've never found a electric shaver that I wanted to keep using - and I've tried many, including the ones with the built-in Nivea moisturizing pouches.
I have found the Mach3 Turbo (the green one that vibrates) to give a very good shave but, due to the cost of the blades, you tend to keep each blade too long and definitely affects the quality of the shave. Using cheaper razors, such as the blue Tesco 2-blades, can give good results, especially if you shower first and soften your beard with very hot water.
A good shaving gel, particularly the ones that don't foam up and stop you seeing what you're doing, helps a lot. If you can't afford to replace the Gillette blades as soon as performance dips (2 weeks?), you would probably be better off with a simpler razor, a good gel and a good pre-shave routine.0 -
Thanks for that mate. Will have to give it a try.
I'm using the Gillette Fusion which is costing me a fortune! :mad:0 -
I use a double bladed razor from Lidl that costs about £1.50 and comes with 20 blades. I'm happy with it!0

The triple blade razor from Aldi is great too!0
