This is a regular offer, and I can confirm that it is simple and painless to cancel the subscription with one phone call. They do tend to call you again every 6 months or so to offer you the same 12 issues for £1 deal, which you can take and cancel again.

Personally I tend to find that I make the effort to read the first 4 or 5, then a few articles in the next 2 or three, then the final editions build up in the post tray, unopened...
