Grrr @ nationwide

Options
Had my survey done wed last week which came back fine. Rang nationwide call centre on fri last week to check on status of mortgage application and to check they had recieved the results of valuation. Was told that because i made inital application in branch i would have to speak to diane who was processsing the application and they would get her to ring me back. She did not ring. I have since emailed her, left messages on her answerphone, left messages with staff in the branch where she works, left messages with call centre staff and they all say they will get her to ring me but she doesnt return my calls. They say they cannot process my application until she submits it. I have even gone into branch but she is always with a customer and they say she will ring me. What do i do?

My buyer wants to complete at the end of next month and i dont want my lack of formal mortgage offer to slow things up. I cant see why things will go wrong because i passed the credit checks and affordability at the inital application but i just want to be sure.

Be patient. When there's news you'll receive a call.

Any number of issues could yet slow the process down. So don't feel pressurised by your buyer.

Write a brief but polite letter to Diane referring to the number of contacts you have made, the number of promises to get back to you and the date on which you first asked for an update. And request a full update on progress within 72 hours. If this is ignored, go into the branch and raise a complaint.

My OH went into branch yesterday and wouldnt leave until he spoke with her. Apparently she kept meaning to ring me but it was pushed to the back of her mind because everything is going through fine with no problems and i should get my formal offer next week. A quick phone call to tell me that was all that i needed.

Considering you are awiting to hear the news IT is comman courtsey an common sense to at least ring you and keep updated. When my family and me have purchased places or requested infomation or anything that size of money involved the Estate agents have been very polite and kept up to date. Can understand in the banking profession or House business it can be very tricky to keep in touch still is not a excuse, You have a morguage out i beleive or applied and passed meaning you have done all the recent checks, Jumped through hoops and everything else they require these days, At least it polite to keep you informed of whats going on....

My home is already paid for but thanks for the head's up with Nationwide. When my eldest son needs a morguage i know now who i will be avioding,

Hope you get it sorted out and wish you well
