In the year to March 31, the firm had a turnover of £9.9bn, with a profit after tax of £1.04bn.
It is a dramatic turnaround for a company which only two years ago was seeking the Government's help to put a survival package together.
The company was considering closing one of its three UK manufacturing centres.
It is understood that JLR has plans to build a £750m engine plant somewhere in Britain, possibly in Wolverhampton, with the creation of 1,000 jobs.
A change in fortunes has been driven by emerging markets in China and India, where sales have been growing rapidly.

Not a British owned company, but as they have a manufacturing base in the UK, not bad news.
A little birdy tells me that they are considering moving some of their manufacturing abroad.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -

Previously owned by Ford. Also not a "British owned" company.
Although in reality, any listed company is now "owned" by shareholders from dozens of countries.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Hang on, is this the same JLR about which Mr Tata complained of a problem with work ethic ?
They must be doing something right0 -
He's fired all the lazy ones and it turned the business round. Or they're flogging loads of expensive motors abroad, helped by the relatively weak pound. Or something.0

My current XJS Sovereign is great. A recognisable Jaguar. But have you seen the new XJ6? As the Duke of Edinburgh would doubtless remark, designed by a bunch of Indians.0 -

I saw Ford being interviewed about this earlier. Apparently its all down to Ford that they are doing so well as they laid all the groundwork. Also they had no choice but to sell them off having done all the hard work because of their financial state at the time.
