I saw today it has gone up another 20p to £1.89. It was £1.49 towards the end of last year. During the winter I switched to porridge and wasn't buying it. When I started buying it again recently, it was £1.69. By my reckoning, this is a 27% rise in five months.

The other meusli they do has gone up from 99p to £1.19 too, I now buy the Tesco Value meusli. It's not as nice but I add fruit anyway so not too much of a problem. If something goes up more than 20% in one go, then I try to avoid buying it.

To be honest, I do not understand why people call Lidl a cheap shop. The prices are almost the same as in the supermarkets and the service is awful.
  • In Asda I noticed that porridge has gone up 25p. A 1kg box of Quaker or Scotts oats used to be £1.50 (around 3 months ago) - now it's £1.75!

I assume you're referring to the 750g Goody Muesli. I prefer it to all other Mueslis I've tried. At 22.5p per 100g, it's still tremendous value.

Ooooh, another mathematician! Have you got an "ology" like me? ;)

Yes, Goody's is correct - I couldn't remember the name.

Yes, it is nice. I only bought one bag the last time it was on promo.

However, I have just opened a pack of M&S luxury muesli this morning which was on half-price recently (£1.24, I think). It is very nice in taste, too, but I particularly like the colour. It looks almost toasted and is much more appealing than the very pale Goody's. I now wish I had bought more than one pack while the offer was on (it's years since I bought their version and I didn't know if I would like it). :(

It's the actual oatmeal I buy to make my porridge in the winter but I noticed it going up as well. Fortunately, Asda had it on a multi-buy discount for a good part of the winter but when this ended I found Tesco was cheaper for it.

Maybe it is the oats (think they are in the muesli) that have jumped in price? I saw on the TV the other day that the wheat or corn (or similar) crop is failing due to the lack of rain. That will be the reason we are given for the next round of increases.

I agree. Absolutely delicious and very satisfying. A packet lasts about a week in my house, so not bad even at £1.89, although I'm still using some reduced ones I bought when it was last on offer.:):):)
