Get some flyers made up and drop 300 or 400 leaflets a day or more. or put cards through door. But set your self a realistic target as it can get a bit boring.

Go into Local Estate/letting Agents and ask to speak to a decision maker. They may already have people, but if you promote yourself correctly and keep in contact you are sure to get some work out of them.

Go into other places with footfall, barbers, sandwich shops, takeaways etc, see if you can leave some cards/flyers there.

Put a small ad in your local newspaper in trades section.

Put an ad in Supermarkets or shop windows.

Speak to have trades people that have other skills, ie gas fitters, sparkys and build up a relationship and see if they can reccomend.

Once you get your first few jobs, word of mouth goes an awful long way.

thanks , moonfruit seem ideal for me , any idea where to get a cheap web domain ? would that mean say , that if someone typed in www.mydomainhere.com it would go to my site from moonfruit?

go to

http://www.123-reg.co.uk/

or something similar , buy mydomain.co.uk and then there options in your control panel on 123 to point it at mydomain.moonfruit , all they see is mydomain.co.uk

you can also set up bigblackdog@mydomain.co.uk to point at your hotmail address or another email , just looks more professional

Just thought ...a local chap near to us dropped his card through which says he's CRB checked.
I think thats a good selling point for those that worry about letting strangers work in their home ;)
It's not just about the money
