This was going to be a very timely impulse purchase yesterday, but neither of the two stores on Victoria Street, London, had any stock and their "systems were down" so they couldn't check stock in other stores at lunchtime yesterday.

I called them just after 5pm yesterday when more stock was showing online, to ask where I could buy one in London, but they told me that the clearance was online only. A lady in Charing Cross branch told me the same thing this morning, yet I didn't notice this in the advertising; the website icons state "sold out online" suggesting that they may be in stock in stores, and a previous poster claims to have bought them in store.

    Disappointed with this result :(

I phoned at 8.30 this morning and was told they still had the Samsung one in stock. Strange.......

their systems went down yesterday as I had reserved 2 laptops to pick up and they said not to call between 12.30 and 2pm due to the tills not working.

I went into a Carphone Warehouse yesterday to get an X10 for £150. They had 1 left in stock but when they rang it up on the till, the system was asking £400 for it. All of the promotional material in the shop stated £150 in the Clearance Sale and someone had bought one only 30 minutes earlier for £150, yet they couldn't sell it to me for that price. After ringing their service desk, the sales guy was told the offer had been removed from stores.

Am I entitled to purchase the phone at the £150 price given that was what they were advertising it as at the very moment I was in there buying it?

No. There is no legal right.

These deals got hammered and they withdrew them in store to save stock to sort out the online mess they made by offering goods far too cheaply.

Thousands of sim-free iPads were ordered as well and none of them will be getting honoured. Some lucky people did get these in store though.

I ordered a Desire Z at 5pm on Thursday and it was in my hand at 10am on Friday. Result for me!
