What's the best card for printing your own greetings cards?

I'm just looking at the Viking Direct site

to get 3000 free Nectar points when you spend £15.00 folks, already posted on here somewhere, but just in case you haven't seen it..)

but I'm not sure which card'll be best to go through the printer...we're printing photos onto it too, so not sure whether to invest in the glossy stuff or just plump for normal stuff. Also not sure which gsm to get. Has anyone else started their cards and could you recommend which is best please?

Pregnancy brain is making decisions very difficult indeed (ooooh yes. Story of my life at the mo............)

I home print photo cards, experiece tells me tha the best/most economical way to do it is to print the photo onto premium glossy photo paper then cut this out & mount it onto cheap card. The premium glossy photo paper is the expensive bit ( Ithis year I have used Smiths own brand reduced to £8.99) but to economise & stretch it as far as possible only print the photo onto it & cut it out with a small border them glue onto card using Uhu type glue, I use 5" by 7" size so get 3 to a sheet, if you want to be fancy use another contrasting colour paper in between the photo & card or use an alternative colour card to mount the photo onto to (I was given my card this year so can't comment on which one to get).

Thanks! I've ordered 5 packs of 250 sheets of cheap A4 white card for £14.97 (buy 3 from Viking Direct and get 2 free) and gone through Quidco so got 5% off. And ordered some glossy photo paper for £7.99 10x15cms...ended up spending £26 odd, but then there's 1250 cards in it.... And we get 30000 bonus points! After 28 days, that is. I hope!! 48 hour delivery, too.

Although not the cheapest way, Staples currently have HP Greeting Cards (Photo, Matt and Textured Cream) on BOGOF and mix 'n' match, so I got 20 cards for £7.99 for Gloss. Matt and textured are in larger pack sizes.
