Evening,
I have been on the look out for a laptop recently, and there seems to be offers and codes flying everywhere... even codes for washing machines that get you 10% off a laptop!
I guess the only requirements are the core duo processor and plenty of harddrice for music and films. Needed for internet (in the garden in summer) and assignments, with the odd DVD or game.
I was interested in the Toshiba that made an apperance for £499 recently @ currys, but they have increased the price to £599 now (prob because of all the MSE crowd taking advantage of offers - wish i had been one  )
So... would you
a) hang around for another curries laptop deal as there are always codes available
b) wiat till after xmas becasue they will all drop in price
c) find something similar, maybe this one
http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Lenovo_3000_N100_Laptop_TY06XUK/version.asp
i know Quidco do 2% back from laptops direct... any codes ?
Any advice on models available... opinions on Lenovo... Codes.... or whether your sunday chicken was a bit dry, let me know
Sorry for the longish post, and enjoy your sunday evening...

I can recommend the lenovo, I purchased mine (the same model) from dabs.com for £526 about 6 weeks ago also purchased a new printer and had £50 off a £750 spend making the laptop less than £500 + 3% through quidco (hopefully, currently under enquiry as it didn't track).
I have been very happy with it so far. Excellent build quality and pretty quick.
I belive the toshiba at currys was a T2050 processor which is the bottom end core duo, the lenovo has the T2300E processor which while still at the budget end is a faster processor.0 -
Thanks Frank,
I am also tempted by the following Toshiba and Sony, all around the same price

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/RGNEC/3-/3230086/Sony_Vaio_VGN_N11M_W_T2050_15_4_Widescreen_Laptop_Notebook_/Product.html#
Tough decision when is quite a bit of money...
I guess all three models are pretty simialr, and around the same £££. Any stand out as clearly better / worse?0 -
Sony vaio's are really nice but like apple your paying for name and style rather than spec.
The toshiba on the other hand looks a bargin. T5500 processor is a core 2 duo, even though rated at the same speed (1.66ghz) this is the next generation processor to the T2300e so should be noticably quicker, plus has xp pro rather than home 20gb less hard drive is a small price to pay.
Never used technoworld before but if I had seen that 6 weeks ago, it would have been the one I would have gone for.0 -
Cool, thanks again.
Just need to find the cheapest place that does it... pref through quidco.
Ill have a search through pricerunner.
Techno world are the cheapest, and they seem pretty good for service, maybe give them a shot.
Second thoughts, ill go through misco and get 8% back0
