Tooth added to a partial plate

I just had upper L4 removed (bone had gone completely). I already have upper L5 and upper R1 and R5 on a plate
My dentist has said that its a simple job just having a new tooth added to my plate
Every time Ive lost a tooth in the past I had had a new plate made - both private and NHS in the past
Can a tooth just be added?
And how long should I wait? So far its been two weeks and I did have an appointment for Friday which I cancelled as my gum still feels very soft and still a wee bit tender in the cheek area
Any of you lovely Dentists advise??

Yes a tooth can be added. My lab takes 24 hours to do it. One visit to take impression, one to fit. Gums take 6 weeks to finish healing ,bone three months.0

Thankyou for such a swift reply
I was to have an early morning appointment for the impression and to go back last knockings for the fitting ( last time I got such a quick plate was from the orthodontic dept of the hospital I worked - staff perk )
Theres no bone left
Very little bone that side of my jaw at all ( hence all the flossing, indent brushing, mouth washes etc is never going to work - just slowing down the inevitable )
Just i read on here in another thread that the longer I hold out for the new addition the better. I mean as long as I dont laugh no one can see so i guess I can hold on a good while. Id that best or is it better to get the tooth made and allow the gums to "settle" around it?0 -
For best results wait three months then plate won't need relining as socket heals.0

Ty for confirming what I thought I had read.
Actually I have to say this is an NHS plate made 8 years ago and is still fitting very well. Ive had a partial plate for at least 25 years now = NHS and private and this has been the best to date which is why im a tad nervous about it being altered. I dont know the correct term but Ive always snapped off the upper R1 because of my bite, most plates biting the dust in months if not weeks.
I shall leave it as long as I can then
Thankyou0
