M & S Oxfam donation vouchers

I was advised today when using an Oxfam "£5 off £35 worth of clothes" voucher, that if I had to return the clothes I would be given another voucher, instead of a credit note for the £5.
This happened to me once before, and I was pleased because it meant I could effectively get M&S food with the Oxfam coupon instead of clothes, which while we do need, we do not necessarily need £35-worth at a time!
Apparently, this is because "some people have been deliberately buying things and bringing them back so that they can get the credit note".
(shurely not Moneysavers????)
I am not sure how this new stance will benefit either M&S or Oxfam. M&S were still making sales, after all - whoever went to their food hall and spent only £5! And it might put people off donating their clothes to Oxfam if there is an easier - and equally worthwhile - way of donating them locally.

The discount is intended to encourage the recycling of clothes and, for M&S, selling more clothes (and homeware, I think too). It was never intended to be used on food or other items.
I got one a while back . The refund Oxfam voucher is valid a few months rather than just the current month of issue of the original so it didn't bother me as I had plenty of time to use it.0 -
Is the voucher in exactly the same format as before? - ie £5 off £35 in one transaction?
It sounds as if it must be a bit different from the actual Oxfam one, or it wouldn't last for a few months?0 -
Yes, it's just a little printed voucher like the Oxfam one but valid longer. Ask them to show you one next time you are in M&S.0
