I think scottish law is different for car repossesions so apologies if this is incorrect or irelevant, But if you pay half back of original agreement they cannot chase you if they have the carIsn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0

I do know how you feel!
The best advice I can offer is to contact either the national debt helpline at https://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk or https://www.cccs.co.uk.
I have been in touch with both of these companies over the past few days and they are very helpful. They can provide you with free advice and information along with sample letters you can use to send to companies.
Drop them an email and explain your situation to them as you did at the beginning or this thread and they will help you.
Sorry I can't help anymore than that but good luck!0 -

Just reading the National Debtline site now, and it says that under a voluntary termination I'm only liable for 50% of the balance, as opposed to 100%. Now it was me that got in touch with BCT over the phone to tell them I couldn't afford it and that if they wouldn't agree to a payment plan then the agreement would have to be terminated.
However, I did this over the phone and NOT via a letter. BCT never made me aware of any rights here and that I'd have to put it in writing if I wanted to terminate. I'm sure they record every phone call to cover their backs in any event, so would I have a case here? It could knock £10,000 off my debt.0 -
Another quick thought. When I win my bank charges claim, if I could prove that I was unable to make the payments on my accounts largely due to the insane amount of unlawful bank charges we received from Natwest (which then landed me with vast debts), then would I have a case to sue Natwest further?0
