being asked to do job with more work but not getting paid for it. help

Hi my oh for the last six months has been doing the job role of a team leader but not getting paid for it.
he works in telecoms for a huge company, at first there was him and one other worker who were told to share the responsibility, his boss would decide which one was better and give them the team leader title with the pay rise that comes with it.
After 3 months my oh had the feeling they were taking the mick and said he didnt want it and they could give it to his work mate.
They didnt do this, the other worker has now left and he is back stuck doing the extra work without the extra pay.
Hes had enough now, but dosent know how to handle this, they need a team leader but the company is unwilling to employ one or give the position to my oh.

The problem that you face here is that nobody is entitled to more money simply because they take on additional responsibility. He could work to his job description and refuse any addiitonal work - but that could easily also be a quick route to the dole queue. There is no legal remedy for this (which I am sure you were hoping there was), so it reallyt does come down to him making an assessment about any advice on how to persuade the employer to do something about the situation.

On the other hand OP, it could be a way of seuring a future promotion...sometimes we need to speculate to accumulate, I would give it a bit longer, assuming he is having decent 121/PDP/job chats with his boss about future potential

but he is basicly forced to do it, hes said time and time again hes not doing it, but every time he turns up on site and asks whos running it, hes told its him.
If he refussed to do it it would cost the company thousands.

does it involve your husband working longer hours for the same pay or just having to work in the time already paid for?

Yeah he has to do all the paperwork, send off site details/pictures ect, whereas before when the job was finnished he was finnished.
His problem is he gets £13 hr for doing the same job as "proper employed with the title" Team leaders when they are getting paid £16 hr

hes even having to take over from one of the Team leaders tomorrow because the guy has refussed to carry out the new site surveys they are doing because they are too difficult for him!!!
its a p#ss take that guy is now going to get paid £16 an hr for a job that my oh should be doing, and my oh is doing his job for less money

if your husband is as good as he thinks he is then he should call their bluff and either refuse to do the job or leave for pastures new.

I know this isn't really helpful but... £13 per hour!! I'll have his job!!
