Ing Direct Mortgage are they any good??

Hi I am looking to remortgage but we have a default on our credit record, from HFC at the time we asked for lower payments on a tv we had from currys and they allowed us to but defaulted us for not sticking to the agreement very harsh I thought this has since been paid in fully.
The halifax said no to a mortgage becuase we didn't pass credit check but Ing direct have said yes (agreed in priniciple).
I have never heard of them, are they any good?
