Have you googled? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=potato+rounds+recipe&spell=1 there seem to be quite a few 'patatoe rounds' recipes. As to whether any of them are any use or not. Only you can tell, also, it's best when trying to describe something you've tasted to include some of the incredients you tasted at the time. Or even the location if its relevant.
A few other surces of information that migh help in finding out the recipe include the following usenet groups:
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.food.recipes?lnk=sg&hl=en
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.food.cooking?lnk=sg&hl=en
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.food?lnk=sg&hl=en
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.food.veg.cooking?lnk=sg&hl=en
All of which have people who analyse recipes in order to break them down for home production.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Hello ladydriva
Your thread will be better placed in the 'Old Style' board, so I'll move it across for you.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

Fondant potatoes rings a bell! You can do them in a frying pan as well.0

Hi,
These are called "potatoes boulangere" - traditionally made in the baker's oven while the bread was cooking, as they need long slow cooking. Google for a recipe, or in this month's free Tesco magazine (the Christmas issue) there is a great recipe for them. They're made with vegetable or chicken stock, not water.
HTH,

I stand corrected - thanks might try them!0

No, it sounds more like fondant potatoes to me, if the spuds are cut into thick ( 1" to 2") rounds. No stock is involved. The water steams the spuds and evaporates, then they fry in the fat and end up golden. Very yummy0
