getting a back off a watch

I want to replace the battery in my watch myself as I'm fed up of paying £4 a time to get it done. I've seen cell/button batteries cheap on ebay (£1 for 50  ) so I want to have a go myself but I can't get the back off the watch to see what size it takes and to replace it. Anyone got any tips please? Its fairly flush fitting type and there are no screws holding it on.

Thank you (apologies if this is the wrong board I'm not sure where to ask)

most watches have the back pressed on ...you can dig a very small screwdriver into the gap and it pops off, you will need it on a hard table and you have to press rather hard...at the same time being carefull not to roar the screwdriver into the inards of the watch

some more expensive watches have a screw on back...there would be flats or nothces where a tool would fit allowing you to unscrew it
  • Try your local market - ours has a stall holder who sells and fits the battery for ~ £2!

Place watch on its side and with the carefull application of a 5lb lump hammer you will find the back will come off on its own!:D

    Hi,
I bought a card of various batteries and a set of small screwdrivers from my local pound shop.
Worked well, saved a bit too.
