Help with MBNA, been charged for late payment but i pay by DD?

I just received a letter from MBNA telling me I have incurred a £25 late payment fee but I wasn't late on payment. I pay by DD every month and due to the bank holiday weekend at the end of April my payment was taken on the 3rd of May and usually its the 30th. There was money in my account to cover the payment so I wouldn't have minded if they took it out on the 28th. I have tried calling them on the number they provided in the letter but its not in use **confused** Does anyone know the number for the loans department?
Thanks
Thanks

Has the payment actually left your bank account?0

Yes, I had just been paid a few days before so there was more than enough to cover it.0/2013

I assume you've googled an alternative number by now, and are about to ring them?..but if not www.saynoto0870.com lists a few, 0800 551441 being one from their main database (there are others).0

I have tried a few of them, but they are either only for credit cards or close at 5pm. Ill try again.
Is it right that they can do that? Surely they should have arranged for it to be taken earlier or expect to take it after the bank holiday. I can't understand how they can do this? I haven't done anything wrong0/2013

It's not your fault, I would call them up and explain (if you can!). I once had a similar problem, where the direct debit was not being taken each month(for two months until i decided i'll pay it over the phone), they were absolutely fine with it and took off the late payment no problem.
Surely, they have made this same problem with other customers so I wouldn't worry.0
