Suitable music for memory montage

I have spent the last few months scanning old family photos to make a montage DVD (slideshow to music) for my family as a bonus Christams present. Now I have to choose some music, I need quite a few tracks. I have decided on Barbra Streisands "Memories" as its one of my mums faves, can anyone think of anything else that fits the bill?
Thanks!

There's no one quite like Grandma - St. Winifrides choir
Grandad - Clive Dunn0 -
My son did something like you're doing for my wife and I and used a track called "Remember When" by Alan Jackson (Country artist). Very sentimental lyrics and nice melody. Might not be suitable for your project, as it is about a loving couple, but if you ever do something for an anniversary, I would certainly consider using it. I even downloaded it as we liked it that much, and brings back memories.
Anyway just a suggestion.

Sounds great for an anniversay Dave but its not quite right for this project, but thanks, if I do an anniversay one I will bear it in mind!
Any more suggestions anyone?

What about running it chronoligically and putting a piece from each era/ decade/ year whatever as it runs.
So eg: In The Summertime from the 60's, Rocket Man, 70's etc.
or if you want to stick with just a odd couple of pieces,
"Someone To Watch Over Me" - Frank Sinatra
"You've Got a Friend" - Carole King
"Got to be There" - Michael Jackson"Sumptus censum ne superet"
Mental blocks are just hurdles to overcome in life.
Yeah..whatever :rolleyes:0 -
Its a very good idea but what I have found is that I have lots of photos from certain years and fewer from others! I am downloading the tracks you mentioned as we speak!

Hi Choccyface hope you don't mind me asking but which software are you using for your montage. I have been using Photo Story with the Sonic add on to burn them to DVDs but it is really slow and I know you can't put down loaded music to it which is a pain as I spend too long scouring everyone's CD collections!!!
My sugggestion for your project:
What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong (very mellow and sentimental)0 -
Oh I love that song Shelanne! Why on earth didn't I think of it!?
I am using one true media, its really very good but you do have to pay $39.98 for the DVD and postage in the UK. However you can download it free to your ipod or to use with Quicktime on your computer.
I like it because it does all the effects (zoom out/in, pan top to bottowm, left to right etc..) you can set all the options, timing, dissolve, reveal etc..too) You have to go through each photo though to ensure that the effect is right for the photo and to make sure its central.
I ordered my first (holiday) montage on disk on Monday, should be here soon so I'll let you know what the quality is like, or you can view my montage Here!
