10/11 Tax Refunds

Has anyone who requested one (e.g. using an R40) received their refund for the 10/11 tax year?

I sent my R40 in early April and haven't heard anything yet. Just wondered if there was a "widespread" problem before I contacted them.

I spoke with HMRC this morning as I am due a refund from overpaying tax since end of 2007 - I sent a letter together with all relevant P60s P45s around 10 days ago. They said expect to wait 5 weeks before my letter is even read!!! I understand they must be very busy sorting through overpayments and underpayments.

Wonder if they would have this kind of stance if say I owed them money - almost £2k - probably not they'd be hammering my door down I'd imagine!

Hey ho have to sit tight and wait for the money.

Same position here, only sent the letter last week and they said to wait around 4 weeks for the cheque but I expect it to be longer than this.

Been on BR tax for 8 months, and when on the phone said I had overpaid 2009 and 2010 also. No idea how much I'll get back yet.

    Sent R40 0n 6th April.
R40 stamped as received on 11th April.
A letter from HMRC requesting an original copy of the P60 was dated 18 May.
The envelope was postmarked 1st June.
We received the letter 3rd June.

I now have to start the process all over again.

Apart from the obvious question of what do they do all day?... Why don't they look up the P60 figure on their own computer if they don't believe what I've put on the form? How come it takes 2 weeks from writing a letter to actually get it in the post?

They are a total b...... shambles, if they were a business they would have lost all credibility, all customers and would be bankrupt.
