Santander taking extra direct debit?
Hi folks Im looking for advice please.
I have a loan with Santander, my payments are on 28th of month and were made at end of April as normal.
On 19th May, they took an additional payment direct from my bank of £174 without warning. It caused me to miss a payment for something else and incur charges.
I spoke with Santander today and they say they will "investigate" but that I must have authorised an overpayment. I only wish I could afford to do that!
Any advice on my rights? Ive lost out by being short of the money in the week before payday and incurred bank charges for the bills that money they took was intended to pay. There may also have been a note on my credit file from missing that payment??

Did they take it by direct debit? If so, contact your bank and request a refund under the direct debit guarantee.0

They did, so thats great to know, Thank you. What do you think to my chances of getting my bank charges back on top from them?
under the direct debit indemnity - your bank should cancel/ refund those charges incurred due to the disputed direct debit paymentWe've spent decades teaching people about their rights, but nothing about their responsibilities.0
