Student grant repayments

Hi, last year i had to leave college mid year due to mental health issues. the student loans paid me my grant for that year still, and now they are asking for it back £2000.

they were sending letter after letter and so by the time i called them ( i had moved house so didnt get the letters untill late ) i told them about the 2000 grant and that i would like to start my repayments and so a monthly standing order was set up.

but to my confusion i got another letter a few months after, stating that my loan had been moved to a debting company and that i was being took to court as i had not paid. ringing them in a panic, the SLC told me i had not been paying back the grant, i had been paying back the actual maintainance loan. this is clearly a mistake on their behalf, as i stated it was for the actual grant overpayment. now i have to pay my loan to a company called CSL and im scared that the interest will be massive, or my name will be blacklisted and i wont be able to get a mortgage! is there anything i can do? can i ring the SLC and ask that i pay them instead? as technically it was their fault! my dad is so angry at me ! :-(
