I like the ones that are on offer, free for a limited time. I'm thoroughly enjoying Archer's Kane and Abel that was free last week.

So if anyone could keep an eye out for those... :D

If you Google "free kindle books" there are a few organisations that will email you every time a new free book is available.

If you go to the "shop in kindle store" on your kindle, then "Featured-Kindle Bestsellers" you can choose to view top 100 paid or top 100 free.

Browsing through the top 100 free, there's a good mix and some really good reads there.

Hope this helps someone ... when I first discovered this, I downloaded loads of books! :)

If anyone doesn't already know this - free software (donation if you like it) called Calibre will organise kindle libraries and upload or delete from Kindle. It also converts other formats to Kindle(mobi), so that you can take any books from say project Gutenberg - all out of copyright stuff so legal - and convert and upload to your kindle, thus freeing you from Amazon who charge for quite a few classics I notice.
Manybooks.net has a lot of free out of copyright books too and you can download in lots of format, but although it offers azw (Kindle) would recommend using mobi instead. HTH

Wow - thanks, just picked up about 15 books for 'free' ... fabulous, that should keep me going all summer. I was hoping to find the Harry Potter books but couldn't find them (even to pay for) are they not available yet? (I'm a kindle newbie!)

With regards to the Potter books, they have never been officially released as an ebook. This will change however next month, Harry's birthday to be exact 31st July ( sorry my name is Sherry and I am a Potterholic :rotfl:)

J K Rowling is opening a new site called Pottermore and the books will be available for the first time as an ebook. This will be the only place thus far that will be able to sell them, apparently they are not even being released to Amazon.

    Hope that helps.:)
