cap quest/ HFC bank

Hi all new to this site and would like some advice.
When me and my partner first bought our first house we got some sofas from DFS on the intrest free credit scheme, first year payment free 3 years intrest free credit, this was october 2008 so our payments started october 2009.
We thought we was doing fine with our payments made the direct debit every month. Untill we got a letter one day asking if this was the same person who used to live at another address.. It was the right person but never lived at that address
We found out we had missed 2 payments in oct 09 and jan 10 but didn't realize and HFC had the complete wrong address even for what was on the credit agreement so we hadn't been getting there letters (not our fault) if they had sent to right address originally we would of known we had defaulted and had 21 days to make the payment. Now they have past the account over to cap quest even though were still paying D/D to them and have been since feb 10
Cap quest also say we owe £200 more than what we actually do and threatening us with a CCJ
We have paid up for the missed payments qenuine mistake.
Can anyone help or give some advice as there just throwing us around at the moment between them
Sorry for the essay

ok. so you missed some payments but are now up to date? (although if it was direct debit i'm mystified as to how this happened) in which case surely there is no just cause for them to take further action.

The direct debit date is the 13th of the money pay day is 15th our fault for not watching but there fault for having wrong address and me not knowing. if I continue to pay HFC and not swap it over to cap quest they can't do anything?
I spoke to a man from cap quest a rude one at that and I asked him who am I paying the debt of to and he said HFC so I said I'll continue to do so straight to them and he said fine but u will keep receiving letters about owing money!
I'm just worried they'll blacist or CCJ us. Thanks for the reply!0 -
so c*quest are agents then?
hope you get it sorted out, remember you don't have to talk to anyone on the phone, keep everything in writing.
just had a thought - if you missed the payments maybe that means HFC considered that the contract had been broken - are they demanding the full amount or just the regular payments?
Do you have any correspondance from HFC? If so you could write to them and ask them to clarify the situation, regarding dates, amount owing etc (& payments made) , whether the debt has been sold.

I think the thought the contract had been broken as we missed two payments but then they continued to take payments fine and if we had been sent letter reagarding this we would of be aware but it was there mess up that they were writing to the wrong address HFC last week said our account was up to date and couldn"t understand why cap quest were chasing payments, so we ask cap quest to stop via email so they send a letter saying money is being forwarded to cap quest from HFC. But when I asked cap quest on the phone who I'm payong debt off to he said HFC
I just want to if we could try and get rid of cap quest by ask HFC to tak it back or if I just don't pay cap quest and continue to pay HFC will cap quest put a default?
Thanks again.0 -
O cap quest asked in full but HFC continue to take money. Cap quest also want 787 and we owe 542 and 787 never goes down even when we have made pauments..0

If anyone else could advise that would be great. I really don't want cap quest to buy the debt as i've read such bad things about them on here like bumping up the prices when they feel like it and as they have done that already to me they more than likely will do it again.
They also want me to change direct debit to them for £60 from £37.14 which i currently pay to HFC there is only 16months left on the account. I just wish i'd never got the sofas now there cr*p ones at that!0
