HFO Services

I'm new to the site and I was interested to read all the posts about HFO Sevices. I hadn't realised they were that well known!

HFO took over my debt with Citicard back in 2006 and when they didn't like what I offered them as a monthly repayment they tried for a CCJ through Turnbull Rutherford, which the Court struck out as it was obvious I wasn't in a position to repay what they wanted and HFO failed to complete an Allocation Questionnaire on time.

I also received the rude and threatening phone calls others have said they received from HFO people but asked them to put the same things they were saying to me, in writing. Calling their bluff made them back off.

I currently pay them £10 per month but have heard nothing from them since November 2007 when, after their CCJ application was rejected, they wrote saying they accepted my £10 per month offer. I assume they have been receiving my monthly payments OK as they haven't phoned to complain, but I'm not sure the exact situation regarding my debt. My main problems are -

1) I've been long term unemployed, partly due to health problems and partly due to my inability to find work, and my income is worse now than it was back then as I've recently lost Child Benefit and Working Tax Credits and Child Tax Credits due to my daughter leaving college. I now want to reduce that payment to £1 per month and have written to all my 8 other creditors to ask them to also accept the same amount, as I've been paying them an average of £10 a month too. I've explained that I'm as keen as anyone to get these debts off my back but at 60 years of age the chance of my finding employment again is very remote.

My worry is that HFO will refuse to accept the situation I am in and therefore refuse the offer. What is my position?

2) I don't know what is outstanding on my debt with HFO as I've never received a statement of any sort or any update and have no indication as to whether they've been adding interest to the outstanding debt of £2,277-69. I am reluctant to waste my time asking for these details as all previous correspondence to them went unanswered. My calculations estimate the debt to be about £1,800.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.
