I'd appreciate anything home made. especially a good behaviour contract signed and dated till the pupil leaves my school. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

  • Oh yes it's that time of year again when my class says to me "What would you like for Christmas?" and I reply
"The joy of teaching you is present enough!":D
I am very lucky to get inundated with presents for which I am very grateful. Let's be honest, my children are very grateful, for all that chocolate:o But even with all their 'help' we still end up giving lots of it away.

Chocolate melts away, as do the candles, but a letter of appreciation will see me through the dark days when the Government has come up with another wizzard wheeze and I need reminding just why I am doing this. Besides why give a gift to someone who has the best job in the world - just try being in a Primary School at Christmas - just for doing that job?

  • Gosh Dolly, you almost make me want to get back in the classroom...almost:D
  • Another teacher here and much as I love and appreciate chcolate (see my username) I love the letter idea more. My best gift ever was from a little girl I taught a couple of years ago and was a letter describing all that she'd learned and how she hoped she would enjoy the next class as much as mine etc. It made me cry when I read it and it's still on my noticeboard now.

An additional copy to the head would be a bonus...not that our head would probably say anything but it's worth letting them know how much teachers can be valued.

I also keep anything handmade, cards, flowerpots, photo franes etc - the effort is worth more than the money spent

I love the letter idea! I teach in a uni,and 2 emails (out of my 8 students) in the summer, to thank me for all my help, thank me for caring and thank me for making them work hard just lifted my spirits sooooooo much!!

The comment this term was "we wish we had you again this year, even tho you gave us more work than anyone, it had a good purpose, and we didnt mind working hard for you" - nearly brought a tear to my eye - WELL MORE than any chocolates etc!

I love the idea on the hamper thread of the hot choc/mugs etc - for all the staff?

Why not get your child/children to write a thank u letter too, id love that

Last year i bought small gift boxes which my daughter filled with colourful tissue paper and laid chocs on top. She done it all herself and her teacher thanked both of us for this thoughtful idea. I agree that the letter is a great idea. I've already bought the teacher something this year but will add a letter too.

The problem I have is my youngest son has 2 teachers (jobs share one at beginning and one at the end of the week) and 2 LSAs work with him, and my oldest has one teacher and 3 LSAs, so if I bought for all of them I would end up spending a fortune!!!! So what I am doing is sending tin of choccies down for all the staff to share, or something similar, who at some point this year have all helped my sons with them both having special needs. They have all had cards thanking them for their help. I help out throughout the year inc trips, fayres, governor duties etc etc so that wouldn't be an extra really.
One day I might be more organised...........

I have always given my children's teachers and TAs a tree decoration at Christmas. I try to choose really tasteful ones which are non breakable - lovely metal reindeer with little bells from Homebase this year. I like the idea that each year when they decorate their tree they may remember teaching my child. I get the children to decorate a little box - often a large (cooks) match box to give the gift in and hopefully for it to be packed away in.
