printer chip resetters

I've been having a problem with my 3-year-old Epson printer - it keeps telling me that I need to change cartridges that are virtually unused. I've contacted Epson and they say it needs to be repaired.

I thought it might be worth trying a chip resetter before I either spend more money than the printer is worth on getting it repaired or buying a new one. I was wondering if anyone had tried them ? I've seen them for sale online for about £6-7 quid.

Which make of cartridges are you using as most do not need resetting now

I use a chip resetter with my Canon iP4500 because I can get cheap, chipless cartridges for around £1-£2 instead of chipped ones for £15-£20. I think it was a cheap Chinese import (although I paid about £15-£20 for it on eBay).

It takes a bit of wiggling to get the chip lined up the contacts, but it does eventually work every time.

I've no idea if one would help you, though.

Have you had a look at the Epson SCC program? If your printer is supported, you should be able to reset the ink counter via the software, which would save you from having to buy a chip resetter. :money:
