Just wishing you luck, having had illnesses myself & medical redundancy I know its tough. BTW, I got a new boiler fitted for £1200 by a gas safe plumber in October, shop around if you did need a new one.0

How about if your husband gives up spending his sick pay on tobacco ? this might help you manage things a bit better and from a medical point of view, surely help towards a speedier recovery and better prognosis ?0

If you enjoy boot fairs have you tried using Freecycle? People on my Freecycle often offer boot sale items. If you haven't already used Freecycle you may need to offer something before you post a 'wanted' message but this could be anything - plastic plant pots etc etc
I know the 'give up smoking' is sensible when on a moneysaving site but as a smoker I know it is so much harder that people think and when you're going through a rough time it is sometimes the last thing you want to do.
Good luck!0
