Online banking - download Trusteer Rapport?

Hi
I have held back from doing online banking with First Direct because I read ages ago that the software which they recommend downloading for extra security severely slows down PC performance.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has downloaded it and whether they think it has had that effect or not.
I suspect that if I did online banking without downloading it then the bank wouldn't support me if I was the victim of fraud though...

For the rare times I do online banking under a Windows Operating system (XP) I do have rapport in use. It's useful as it warns you if you are on a fake banking web site. Has not slowed the system down though I have heard reports from other people saying it does slow things down if your computer is more than 3/4 years old.
I mainly do anything confidential like banking/shopping by booting up the linux side of my dual boot system (XP/Linux Mint 10) as it is much more secure than Windows xp/vista/7 to the extent that there is not even a need for ant virus programs, rapport etc to be installed and running whilst in Linux.
Other things to watch out for and check when entering passwords/card details etc whilst on a web site are the padlock system and https before the www. as these also indicate a genuine web site.0 -

I have used Trusteer Rapport on a Windows Vista Home Premium PC with 2MByte of RAM and Dual T3210 CPU at 1.4Ghz. This is pretty much the cheapest I could buy in Mar 2008 (with 1Mbyte) and is lowest spec / slowest I would expect these days.
The security Trusteer Rapport software doesn't seem to slow down the PC for me.The Highwayman0 -
I had it for my HSBC banking and it almost killed my little laptop-it slowed down horrendously and was miraculously fixed when I took it off!Starting Mortgage (May 2012): £116,095, Mortgage at September 2012: £115,677.14
Mortgage at March 2014: £110,671.080
