Tax self assessment thing!

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can help, I'm due to be discharged in the next couple of weeks. Had a nil tax code but obviously that stopped last month with the new tax year. Anyway yesterday I recived a self assessment tax form, never had one before or even seen one. Is this normal? I hae never heard of any other br's getting one so close to discharge.
