I've got a Yakumo from amazon, and it skips at the start of every chapter - it's starting to p**s me off....

I got a Yakumo before xmas from Amazon, used that very special code posted on this wonderful site & got DVD player for £4.99! My mum's xmas present, (1 of them!)
Remote wouldn't work, phoned Amazon & they said to send the whole thing back, incl player, cost £15 but they reimbursed me. 2 weeks later DVD player arrived, all ok now.

Have you performed the firmware upgrade? That 'should' sort that issue out.

RussLE - the advert says this machine is multiregional CAPABLE. Maybe it isn't set as such out of the box and you have to make it multi-regional via a code.

I found this if it's of any help:

Turn on the power
eject the draw
type the region code (2812) on the title screen
you should see top left a dash every time a number is pressed
the region code should then be displayed
set to 9 for region free
press setup to store the setting
