Options
not sure if this in the right place

yesterday went to collect my prize at fake festival after trying to explain and showing my email and even pointing out my name on the guest list they finally believed me when i said i won some tickets them. i felt they were being rude to me on puporse saying i cant do this or that as i hadnt paid and were trying to find ways to make me leave and kept going on about since the tickets were free i shouldnt be there as it really for people that have paid not !!!!!!!!!!s.

is this normal for a comp win or did i just get a moody person as i dont wanna win prizes if im made to feel awful for doing so

    Complain!!!!!

I'm sure the PR firm involved with the comp would like to know how their front-line staff have treated you. Absolutely appalling. I would have gone ape. Definitely send an email to the people who informed you of your win.

I agree if they dont want give free tickets then dont run the competition in the first place! complain if they made you feel bad for winning.

Please let the company that ran the comp know how badly you feel.

Sounds to me that you came across a nasty little jobsworth.

thats so wrong -never been treated like that when i have won tickets.
it must have also spoilt your day so you must contact them to let them know how poorly you were treated
keep comping- most venues are lovely and happy that you are a lucky winner- so dont give up:)

That's awful. I've usually had lovely friendly people who congratulate me or just people that hand them over as if I'd bought them. Complain. It sounds less like a policy to be horrible but more like a little one off weirdo.

You should contact the promoters of the comp. I'm sure they would be horrified if they knew how badly a winner had been treated!

Personally I would have been really angry to be treated like that! Hope it doesn't put you off x

I only seem to be able to win tickets ;-) and have won loads and have always been treated really well. You'd be amazed at how many tickets are given away as complimentary tickets or comp wins. Don't let this bad experience put you off as I'm sure it will not happen again, let the PR company know how disappointed you were with the way you were treated and maybe they will offer you some more tickets to make up for it. I've had tickets turn up after the event and have let them know and always got some replacements for something else.

The staff were wrong for talking to you like that... try not to take it too personally.

If it was the staff at Fake Festival that were rude to you about collecting tickets, then i would complain directly to them, as whoever was hosting the comp has really no control over how the staff at Fake Festival act. Maybe suggest that all staff should be aware that people can win tickets for this festival? I'm not sure what Fake Festival is like, but with the festivals i've attended in the past, it's full of casual staff (mostly students,) and customer service isn't necessarily at the top of their list.

I have been fine collecting tickets in the past - theatre tickets, festival tickets, concert tickets. Staff have always been pleasant regardless of me getting these tickets for free. They've treated me like anyone else.

    Don't let anyone discourage you.

ill contact fake festival about it. i didnt expect like a well done or anything but didnt expect the way i was treated either
  • I had a similar experience - I won 2 tickets for the Stag and Dagger Festival in Glasgow via competition on Facebook. I already had a ticket so told 2 friends they could have my prize tickets. When I went to collect the tickets my name was not on the guestlist (when I was told it would be) and I had to argue with the guy for 10 minutes until he reluctantly gave me 2 tickets. Rather embarrassing and made me feel a bit like he thought I was just trying to pull a fast one. Would not have bothered except 2 friends were stood nearby waiting for the tickets I had promised them. Having said that I have won tickets for other gigs and had no problems.
