What to look for in a LCD Tele???

Hello all

I have decided that it is time to get rid of my old 21" CRT Tele and replace it with a new lcd one in the January sales.

But from what i have read on the matter, it is a bit of a mind field out there!! So what do you look for when buying a LCD tele?

I have £700 to spend, and would like to get a 32" LCD (i think anything bigger would look silly in my lounge)

So what to get?

I have read on these forums that it is better to get a high price "brand" name that will last 10 years rather than a cheap "lidl/aldi" one that will have to be replaced every 5 years. Is that true? Does a brand name tele work better?

I have never been a slave to branded goods before but spending £700, i want to get it right!!!

Do I need a HD ready tv? I heard that freeview may go to HD in the future so dont want to miss the boat. I dont want SKY as i think it is a rip off and i am happy with Freeview.

The tele does not have to have freeview built in.

Another thing is what sort of response times should i be looking for?

If anyone replys with "I bought the woolies £399 one, its great!", can you explian why it is great, as i have nothing to compare it with!

if some one could point me in the direction of some guides i can read or sites that help?

I dont want to spend £700 on a lemon of a tele!!

cheers

Andrew
