My appointment was yesterday on a Friday, but I missed it because the night before that date my Mom was rushed to hospital and I spent the night with her so on the actual date of my appointment i was still in the hospital with her. I can't ring the job centre today as they are closed on the weekends n as much as I do not want to be signing on I do so because it helps me to get by. What can I do so my claim won't be affected and I be paid, some one help please x

You'll probably be sanctioned for the the few days, you need to get in straight away on Monday (in person) and explain it all.
Did you not call them in the morning to say you would not be there? If you were working you would still have to call in to explain why you won't be at work (vs sign on).

I'm afraid with everything going on it honestly didn't cross my mind I practically stayed awake all night and was extremely stressed other wise I haven't missed any appointments before and was excused for one because it was good Friday.0

I can imagine its stressful etc.
However there are only a few hoops to jump through for JSA and one is to turn up, or tell them in advance.
If you had a job it would still be stressful etc but you would still have to dial in and explain it to someone.
Theres no difference IMO.

I no which I do honestly regret, I am usually a very organised person but I guess no one really expects these types of situations to occur it is a bit of a shocker tbh.0

If you explain it to them I don't think it'll be a problem, as long as you haven't done it before. I used to work on the ESA section and people missed appointments every day. As long as they had a good excuse (ie could show 'good cause') and they weren't repeat offenders, they'd usually be given another chance to attend.0

Circumstances in which an allowance is not to be payable
27A.—(1) A jobseeker’s allowance is not to be payable for the period prescribed in regulation 27B if either the first or the second condition is satisfied.
(2) The first condition is satisfied if a claimant (“C”)—
(a) fails to attend on the day specified in a relevant notification;
(b) makes contact with an employment officer in the manner set out in a relevant notification before the end of the period of five working days beginning with the first working day after the day on which C failed to attend on the day specified; and
(c) fails to show good cause for that failure to attend.
I advise you to contact them on Monday (you have until end of Friday) and explain the situation to them. Fingers crossed they wont give you any problems. You will notice your payment will be paid later (refelcting the delay to signing on). Let us know how you get on.0 -
I would actually go to your jobcentre on Monday morning, if possible with proof of your mothers visit to hospital. If the appointment that you missed was a signing intervention you will be asked to sign your delaration for the last two weeks there and then which would release your payment. If you'd missed an advisers interview it would have to be rescheduled and "fail to attend" action would be taken. As an adviser I would "treat as straightforward" your reason for missing an adviser interview and there would be no sanction issued. Please do take as much evidence with you to back up the fact that your mother was in hospital as it will all work in your favour.0
