    It's a leasehold property.
You need the details of the leashold entry.

Right done that and it appears the only person named on the form under registered owner and title good leasehold is the person who passed away. There is no mention of his wife on the document so I take it this complicates matters?

It means that he was the sole owner of the property.
Ownership of the property now passes in accordance with the will. Do you know what that says?

It sounds like there might be a life interest trust in the will, but you need to find this out. You can get a copy from York Probate registry but getting on good terms with the Exceutor is cheaper and easier in the long run - if it's in the deceased name, it'll need to be sorted.

First thing to do is get a copy of the will and find out what is in that and who is benifiting.

Someone in the family needs to get on top of the situation and eal with the executors.

Talk to mum about how the wills were set up and check hers at the same time.

Get any profesioanal executors off the will(they can charge a lot), and get someone else on, you can always use a solicitor later, but not so easy to get them removed once they start the process.

You won't be able to get a copy of the will from the Probate Office until it's all settled. At the moment the only way to get one is to ask the executor if you can have a copy or, at least, go into the office and see the will.

They don't have to let see it but they may do.
