I've never come across this before and I'm fairly techie.
Dell Dimension 3100c. 7 years old.
I reinstalled xp onto 'c' partition. I did a quick format and installed xp, plus did all updates. After loading all drivers in specific order the desktop is now strangely different. When I take cursor to top of screen the bottom with the taskbar with any shortcuts in that area disappears. When I take cursor to bottom of screen the taskbar and any icons disappears. It's like the desktop seesaws up and down when I take the cursor to top or bottom.
Onboard graphics card driver is ok. No yellows in Device Manager. Monitor driver is ok and has no controls to change this effect. Taskbar has 'hide taskbar' unchecked. I've scanned with malwarebytes. I'm stumped.

Change the resolution of your display to 1024x768, or 1280x1024. You'll probably find that your display's resolution is too high for your monitor and that's why the screen "scrolls" off the page... I have this a lot when I dock/undock my laptop, and play with the different resolutions for my home and work external monitors...Having fun trying to save money without going over the top and living on budget food all the time...0

I tried all the various permutations with the display resolutions which made no difference.
But amazingly I turned on pc this morning and the problem has mysteriously gone. Go figure.
Thanks anyway.0
